Our Office

What to Expect

When walking into our office for the first time, most patients are happily surprised to find that they have not walked into a stark, ordinary and mundane treatment facility. Instead they have the feeling that they have walked into someone's living room.

We understand that for many, going to the doctor can be a stressful experience. At Newport Family Foot Care, we strive to make our patients feel at ease. We have found that having a homey and warm waiting area along with a friendly and relaxed attitude from both Dr. Sheff as well as his office staff is not only helpful for our patients, but our amiable demeanor is often quite contagious!

The staff at Newport Family Foot Care is dedicated to making our patients feel welcome when they come to our office. Our staff is always happy to oblige by answering questions about office policies, arranging future appointments, coordinating insurance benefits, etc.

Payment Options

Most insurance plans are accepted at Newport Family Foot Care. Since Dr. Sheff is a specialist, some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician in order to be seen at our office. We have an excellent relationship with the primary care physicians in the Newport area and are happy to assist you in obtaining a referral should you forget to do so. However, your insurance carrier will inform you that getting a referral is your responsibility, and we appreciate any help from our patients in obtaining these.

Your insurance carrier may not cover some services provided. We will always try to work with your insurance plan to have our services covered for you. However, if it is determined that your treatment(s) are not included, we gladly accept cash, personal or business checks, as well as VISA, MasterCard and Discover.  Payment and any co-payments dictated by your insurance carrier are expected at the time of your visit.

Please be aware that most insurance carriers will allow an initial visit to permit Dr. Sheff to examine you as well as determine if you require treatment or surgery. If you are unsure if your insurance carrier allows visits to specific specialists such as Dr. Sheff, please either contact your insurance provider or us.

Facilities

At Newport Family Foot Care, we have our own digital x-ray facilities. We also have electronic medical records, cutting edge laser technology, computerized digital mapping analysis, ultrasound  as well as the ability to perform lower extremity Doppler studies to examine one's circulation. Minor procedures are performed here daily under local anesthesia as well as innovative methods for the treatment of many common but severe foot conditions. More extensive procedures are performed at Newport Hospital, as these often require the assistance of an anesthesiologist.
